Top 10 Reasons Why Moms Love Swimming PoolsA woman and two girls in the pool

To start, I am not a mother nor a woman. However I was able to get plenty of input from my wife, who is a mother, and mothers from our friends and family. Everyone has different reasons why they love their swimming pools. Now don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of reasons why dads love swimming pool too. But I wanted to focus on one side at a time. We will go over what Dads love in another article. But Moms tend to have much different and meaningful reasons on why they love their swimming pool. After a lot of narrowing down and weeding out the obvious reasons, here are the top 10 reasons that I found on why Moms love swimming pools.

1. Bringing Family Together With No Distractions

I think this is one of biggest reasons. It’s tough for families to have quality time together nowadays with all the distractions of the world. Whether it’s a phone, IPad, TV, computer, or any other electronic. Spending time with family is getting harder to do. This is a perfect example of what makes owning a swimming pool so special. A family can swim in a pool for hours together and their only focus is on each other. It can also help parents stop worrying about their children’s safety when they go on their phone all the time. The internet can be a dangerous place for teens, so it’s a good idea to get them away from their phones when you can and also make them realise that life is a lot more important than sharing photos on social media all day (and it’s a lot safer too, you can check out these internet safety tips for teens here)!

2. Kids Want To Be At Home

Many get swimming pools because they understand that their kids are always looking for something fun and entertaining, especially when they get into their teenage years. With a pool in their backyard, kids will invite their friends over. Which gives mom a shot at keep a closer eye on things, but also get to know her children’s friends too.

3. Cleaning Can Be Therapeutic

I know this sounds like a stereotype or outdated thought. But I’ve had many of moms tell me how much they enjoy vacuuming their pool, as they find it relaxing and therapeutic. Although this may sound very odd to some who’ve never owned a pool, I can attest there is something very peaceful about being outside and moving the vacuum through the lucid waters of a swimming pool.

4. Secret Fitness for the Family

I’ve personally seen this over the past few years with my kids. As we all know, swimming is great exercise, and our kids certainly need exercise to stay healthy and fit. Kids will spend more than 2 hours every day outside in the pool during the summer and can make a huge impact on how their bodies burn fat and tone muscle. As the winter fat burns off and by summer’s end, they are left lean, healthy, and fit.

5. The “Girls” Can Hangout

All moms need their time away from the family ever now and then. There is no better way of doing this by having a girls night or similar gathering at the pool. By sitting, laughing, and chatting in the pool for hours with friends, moms can truly receive a much needed rest.

6. Kids Hit The Pillow And Fall Asleep

I always find it hilarious how wasted my kids are when I get home from work during the summer. This exhaustion is a direct result of being outside in the pool all day, but it certainly makes the life of a mom much easier when the kids are literally asking to go to bed versus being told to go to bed.

7. Get Your Tan On!

Who doesn’t love a great tan? There’s no better spot to get one than along side your swimming pool. Plus if it gets too hot, there is a refreshing pool right there to jump in to.

8. Budget Friendly Parties

As every parent and mom is aware of, throwing a party for their kids can get expensive pretty quickly when a group of their friends are involved. This is because they have to be entertained like going to Peter Piper Pizza or having a party at a miniature golf & arcade venue. With a swimming pool in the backyard, children can be entertained for hours at a much lower cost. But it’s not just kids who can use the swimming pool for parties; it’s the perfect idea for adults too. A pool party full of food, fun and drinks that are being drunk out of Custom Beer Steins will guarantee a fun time for everyone. Just make sure that you are careful when mixing alcohol with a swimming pool. The most important thing is that you have fun when hosting any type of pool party on a budget.

9. Exercise In Peace

I’ve talked to many moms that very much enjoy swimming in their pool alone, enjoying the peaceful water while benefiting from the exercise that comes with such an activity. It’s really amazing what 15-20 minutes of quiet exercise each day can do for the mind and body. It is the same reason other forms of exercise such as yoga are so popular. In fact, when combined with swimming, yoga is a fantastic way to clear your thoughts and tone your body. I love yoga and have even considered doing some research into the best yoga instructor course so that I can deepen my knowledge of this intriguing discipline. Do you already use exercise as a way to relax? If not, perhaps now is the right time to give it a go.

10. No Bags To Pack

Maybe the worst part about swimming for most families, or should I say moms, before they own their own pool is the concept of packing. Whether the pool is a community pool just down the street, or Fitness Center, packing sucks. Even worse, usually something is always forgotten.
